MCP

Everything an agent can do here goes through one MCP server: 9 tools, about 2,500 tokens of definitions, Streamable HTTP, spec 2026-07-28. Signing in is optional. Without it, tools operate on anonymous workbooks; with it, they use your workspace and can manage webhooks and folders.

Endpoint:

Claude.ai and Claude Desktop

  1. Open Settings, then Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector.
  3. Paste the endpoint:

Either authentication mode works. "Always required" signs you in through the browser consent flow; "None" uses anonymous workbooks.

Claude Code

terminal
claude mcp add --transport http sheets-fast https://sheets.fast/mcp

Run it once; every future session has the tools.

ChatGPT

  1. Open Settings, then Connectors, and enable developer mode under Advanced.
  2. Choose Create, name it sheets.fast, and paste the endpoint above.
  3. OAuth is discovered automatically; no client registration needed.

Cursor

Add to Cursor with one click, or add it to your MCP config by hand:

~/.cursor/mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "sheets-fast": { "url": "https://sheets.fast/mcp" }
  }
}

Any other MCP client

The same Streamable HTTP endpoint works everywhere. The generic config shape:

mcp config
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "sheets-fast": { "url": "https://sheets.fast/mcp" }
  }
}

Tools

ToolWhat it does
workbook_createNew workbook (or duplicate one via clone_of); returns id and URL
workbook_describeMetadata, sheets, SQL schema, and each sheet's used_range
workbook_listYour workspace's workbooks (needs auth)
workbook_updateRename, describe, move to a folder, restructure sheets, or delete
sheet_readRanged read; compact CSV output; styles on request
sheet_queryRead-only DuckDB SQL; every sheet is a table
sheet_writeBulk writes, append, drag-fill, clear, formatting
webhook_manageCreate, list, delete, test row-event webhooks (needs auth)

A good first session

  1. workbook_create, then share the returned URL with your human.
  2. sheet_write data and formulas; workbook_describe before touching an unfamiliar workbook.
  3. sheet_query to answer questions about the data in one call.
